Health Education provided to the ageing people is one of the critical service to the elder to promote them to keep healthy. Therefore HHRDC designed the project to guide the training for the professionals providing health education for the elder. On April 22nd, 2022, the Health Human Resources Development Center of the National Health Commission signed the agreement with the China Association of the Universities for the Aged. Deputy Director-General Mr. Fang Jianning of HHRDC signed the file with the Vice-President Diao Haifeng of the Association, Mr. Zeng Lei, the Director of the Technical Professionals Office of HHRDC, and Ms. Li Ping, the Head of Teaching Materials and Textbooks of the Association witnessed the signing.

The signing of the agreement means the education for professionals providing health education to the ageing population is promoted to a new phase of development. The faculty for health education for the elder would be oriented to more attentive to health care to enhance the health status for the elder as a whole. And this would also be a contribution to the accomplishment of Healthy China strategy.

HHRDC, working as the national-level institution serving the health professionals all over China, is very positive on the development of this project. As Deputy Director-General Fang Jianning pointed out, the first step is to train and educate the full- and part-time teachers for universities for the aged. The faculty team is the key for the development of health education for the elder population, therefore the capacity building for this team would be one of the core advantage to promote the development of universities for the aged. HHRDC aimed to use this project as a chance to launch the professional and career-oriented training for the faculty team for universities for the aged. Health care would be the core module of the content and curriculum. HHRDC is very willing to cooperate with the Association to collaboratively enhance the elder population’s resilience and self-care ability by the training of teachers.
